Session 1: Introductions/Case Presentations
Wednesday September 18, 2024 6pm - 9pm
This will be a opportunity to get to know your local specialists! We will introduce ourselves and each of us will briefly present a single patient case that presents a particular challenge in our field of expertise. The last 30 minutes of the session will be reserved for a Q and A period and open discussion about questions or challenges you face in your own practice.
Session 2: Surgical Molar Uprighting
Tuesday October 15, 2024 6pm - 9pm
Impacted mandibular second molars can cause caries, periodontal defects, and root resorption on adjacent molars and can lengthen orthodontic treatment. Surgical uprighting of impacted mandibular second molars is one management option that we will discuss. The diagnosis, treatment planning, case selection, and risks of this combined surgical-orthodontic treatment will be reviewed. The surgical approach to management of these teeth will be outlined, as well as the orthodontic management.
Session 3: Clinical and Lab Challenges and Review of Current Literature
Tuesday November 5, 2024 6pm - 9pm
Dr Brent Winnett will begin by discussing common restorative challenges that we all regularly run into in our practices. This will include difficulties at both the clinical and laboratory levels. Dr Keyes will then review trends and themes in current prosthodontic literature that summarize the current and future trends in today’s prosthodontic research. The last 30-60 minutes of the session will be dedicated to case discussions. Please bring a case (preferably with mounted models) to discuss in a small group format.
Session 4: Correcting Malocclusions and Templates for Interdisciplinary Treatment Planning
Tuesday December 3, 2024 6pm - 9pm
Untreated dental malocclusions can lead to worn dentition, periodontal problems and temporomandibular joint disorders. The diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment modalities to correct malocclusions will be discussed. We will review templates for successful treatment planning for interdisciplinary cases. The last hour will be reserved for small group discussion. Please bring a case that you would like assistance with treatment planning.
Session 5: Dental Trauma
Tuesday January 14, 2025 6pm - 9pm
Dr. Ha will review the International Association of Dental Traumatology guidelines for the management of dental injuries. She will be discussing fractures, luxation, intrusion and avulsion of permanent teeth. Multiple cases will be reviewed with input from other specialties and members. The last 30-60 minutes will be dedicated to member case discussions. Please bring a case of your own to discuss in a small group format.
Session 6: Member Case Presentations
Tuesday February 18, 2025 6pm - 9pm
